Microchipping
A growing practice amongst veterinarians and animal shelters is the use of microchips as an identification card. Microchips contain your pet’s name, your name and phone number, the veterinarian who placed the chip and any other pertinent information concerning your pet. This small chip is the size of a grain of rice and is inserted painlessly underneath your pet’s skin. Once your lost pet is in a clinic or shelter they will use a scanner to see if a chip is placed. If the chip is there, then a phone call is all that separates you and your pet. Mercy Animal Hospital strongly encourages all of our clients to make sure they keep their pets microchip information updated.
If being separated from your pet is a frightening thought to you, then have a microchip placed and have your worries put to rest!
