Tyson was born in Montana and raised in Matthews; he has lived throughout the country but considers North Carolina home. Before entering veterinary medicine, he worked at a pet store caring for fish and exotic animals. He began his veterinary career in Washington state and brings nearly five years of experience to Mercy Animal Hospital.
Tyson enjoys the variety each day brings, with a special interest in dental cleanings and assisting with surgeries. He has a soft spot for golden retrievers, loves exotic animals, and has a passion for fishkeeping. At home, Tyson has a tortoiseshell cat named Nugget and looks forward to welcoming a golden retriever puppy this coming spring. His beloved ferrets, Milly and Tilly, recently passed away after long, happy lives. Tilly is pictured with him in his team photo.
Outside the hospital, Tyson is attending college to pursue human dental hygiene because pet parents need healthy smiles, too! In his free time, he enjoys hiking, board games, Magic: The Gathering, gaming, and building computers.
